HI,
I have a 1996 Buick Lesabre and am going to put a system in it. I already decieded on a Alpine CDA-9857 headunit but need help picking out speakers and woofers. From what I can see there is a speaker in each of the front doors and 2 speakers in the rear deck. I mostly listen to rap so I need good woofers, but I really want clean clear sound, i know what good sound is because I have definitive tech speakers in my house so I am picky with sound. As for a budget im not really sure, i dont want to spend and incredible amount but i have flexibilty. Like I said my main concern is loud and clear sound with powerful bass. Thank you.
I suggest you start listening to component sets at local retailers. Also, that's where the majority of my money would go, to my front stage. You have already chosen a solid source unit, leaving your front stage open. I would also not go with out amplification to my front speakers, the rear speakers are usually a preference thing, so even leaving them factory and using the money saved for the front speakers.
Your sub section should be dealt with after you have squared away the front stage and amp choice, whether it be a 4 channel or 2 channel just for the fronts. My experience with subs is that displacement given room yields results I like better, hence I have 15"s. A ported box vs a sealed box based on a specific speaker is usually based on specific user goals although I prefer a sealed box for general sound quality and limited space. Remember the box plays a tremendous part in the subs performance.
