i installed a stereo into a jeep grand cherokee and have no sound now i know there is a factory amp in the car do i have to cut the wires going into the amp and connect them to the other side or what do i have to do.

Did you try hooking up the remote turn on wire to fire up the fact. amp and play through it?

Well on the plug you wired the new cd player there should be a blue wire in that harness, check and make sure there is a wire coming out of the other side of that pin. This should be the turn on wire. I'll look at my wiring info to give you a color to look for in the factory harness. Look for dk. green with a red stripe, this is listed as the remote turn on wire.

It will work. If memory serves me right it's the last pin on the BLACK plug and may also be a LIGHT GREEN wire as well. It will have 12 volts when the ignition is turned on and 0 volts when ignition is off.
