I was looking at getting the mtx 6000s but i saw the xtants. I was wondering if they are any good because i have never heard of them before. Let me know what you think about them. Thanks

MTX = SPL subs
Xtant = SQ subs
This is just a personal opinion. You can use each for either application, but I find that the Xtant subs have a better frequency response than the MTX's. They are both really good subs and you will not be dissappointed with either purchase.

i have owned both in my car, in my opinion, i liked the xtants alot better, they hit harder, and more durable

lol...the local MTX distributor knows me VERY WELL after blowing around 34 of the 15" 6000s in about a year...I was there on a regular basis...the 6000s actually dont sound too horrible, especially in relation to the 8000s...but I just bought a set of the Xtant Hex 12s and am far more impressed than with the 6000s...
which Xtants are you looking at purchasing? BTW, Xtant and MTX are both part of the same parent company, Mitek Inc...
I've heard both powered by an 8100D and the Xtant sounded much better. But the Xtant's where top of the line and the MTX's where 6000's.
I bought a pair of 8000s as soon as they were out because they were supposed to be a good sub that got pretty loud...I was so disappointed I took them back and demanded my cash back within a week...tried several different box designs, different amps, etc...was not happy with them in any way...didnt get loud, sounded like ass, just an all around poor performer in my personal opinion...
Oh, now that I think of it....the xtants were in a custom fiberglass ported enclosure. That probably makes a big difference.
