I have a 97 dodge Ram and have had the smae system in it for half a year. On sat I lost signal(I think?) So I pull the truck into the sop thinking its the main power fuse to the amps. Nope, not that. Keep in mind my head unit is still powered up but no sound. So I pull the hhead unit and check the remote wire. OK its all hooked up. So I run another remote...nope thats not it. The stand by lights on the amps(Hifonics) come on. So I check the grounds. That does no seem to be it. So at this point I am darn sure its the head unit. So i purchase a new unit and the same thing is still happining. I do have a 2.5 farad capacitor infront of the amps........could this be the problem?
I have a LONG road trip to make on Wed and would love to have some music.

Did you meter the remote wire to see if it was getting voltage (test at the deck and the amp)? If the amp standby light is on, you've got power and ground. If there's no voltage to the remote wire, try jumpering from the power wire temporarily to see if you get sound.

No I did not meter the remote wire. But I did install a completly different head unit.
I tried to jump from power wire and still no sound.
Any other options?

The last time I checked, any amp that had a light lit up on it meant that it was turned on. To me it sounds like blown outputs in the amp or dead speakers. Disconnect the speakers and using a AA battery, pop the speakers by touching one speaker wire to each terminal of the battery. If the speaker pops, then all is well for the most part. If you get nada, zip, nothing, then the speaker wire is grounding out or the speaker has gone to the old speakers home in the sky. If the speakers pop, then run new rca cables over top of the seats from the cd player to the amp. Still nothing, then the amp is fubar, which is what I really beleive the problem truly is. Read the grounding sticky and if you have access to a meter, check the resistance on the ground return.

I find it hard to believe that my components and subs are all dead at the same time. These are two seperate amps. I am going to remove the capacitor to see if that helps? Thanks for your replys. Keep them coming.

the power supply fuse was blown in the copper end where you could not see. Thaks for all of your help!!
