That's the ac/dc converter. Try some double stick tape or velcro, make sure it is secure behind the dash and away from other electroinc components.

Nice deck.

What he MEANT was DC to AC power supply, and it is for the display power. It is a high frequency switcher, and is a NOISY bastard, electrically speaking. Keep it away from your antenna leads, and especially your RCA cables.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I have had a couple of eclipse decks and they all have that nifty little device. I too was quite curious what it was. All I knew is that the sticker said to keep it far away from all other wires and what not so you dont create speaker noise. That is why it has such a long cord.

thats a great deal! I just bought my 8445 (the model just below yours) for $500. But that was from an authorized dealer with a 4 year warantee. I strongly suggest you buy the MEI100 tuning microphone from cardomain. Basically there is a built in RTA funtion in the deck that will help you tune your system. its not the cure all but it helps a lot. I have mine in the mail. Its supposed to be showing up tomorrow. Ill let you know how good it does.

no it certainly didnt. It is an add on feature that, to my knowledge, just recently became available to the open market. Its an add on just like the "GPS" add on for the area-shot. The mic is only $20 on cardomain. That was the only place I could find that sells it. Mind me asking why you asked?

ok, no because the CD8455 comes with the mic. and i tought that the CD8445 come also with the mic. that's why i asked.

i know that the CD8445 doesn't come with the 32MB chip, you have to buy that chip apart.
i had to buy the CD8445 but i get the CD8455 for the price of the CD8445. and i thought that the only difference between those two are the 7- 10 band EQ.

Pretty much, yeah. I just picked up my 8445 yesterday (to preplace my vaunted 8051). I was a little disappointed to find that all of the things that are included with the 8455 don't come with the 8445. And, not that I'm a big fan of MP3, but I was disturbed to hear that the "recording" capability only captures to MS as ATRAC3... (which is worse than MP3) that SUX, man!

Could you post a link to that cardomain page for the mic for those decks? I'll be wanting one of those, I think...

NM, I found it, but I am not sure it'll work with these decks... If it does, let us know, please?

The info for that mic says it is designed to work with the DCU-105 add-on unit for the AVN/AVX series.  I do not think that is the correct microphone for your 8XXX series heads.

Well my MEI100 just came in the mail and ofcourse I tried it out right away. Im kind of at a dissadvantage right now though because all of the speakers on the passenger side are disconnected because Im making custom door panels. I tried it out anyways and it already made a huge difference.Aruman, my mic looks just like the one you have pictured there. I strongly recommend anyone with the 8445 or 8455 get one if you dont already. I was ready to sell mine and go back to my 8443 because of its better tuning capabilities but the mic fixed most of it. Anyone want to buy my 8443?

Aruman, yes I get great deals on car audio video and security, and most of the time they are so great that I can sell below what install shops sell the same thing for, deifinently below what companies like Best-Buy and Circuit City can sell them for.  If you ever need anything, just hit me up on a PM.

On another note lol Yea I wanna get that mic, Im gonna go down to my supplier this weekend see if he has it because he doesnt carry much Eclipse since its kinda higher end then most.  Although I was glad to hear when I went yesterday that he had the new AVN units quite a bit cheaper then Circuit City.  If I see the mic this weekend I will let you guys know about it in case anyone wants one.  If you guys need anything, just PM alrightys gentlemen Later!
