can this cause 2 twelve inch mtx road thunders with 200 rms hooked up to a 800 watt amp to cut out? Not sure if you would call it clipping cause the amp just basically shuts off (green light goes out) and the red protection does not come on either.

She had the subs hooked up to a 400 watt amp at one point and the same thing happend. I checked all the wiring and everything is right. If its not the pre-amps then what could it be?

The subs are single voice coils. The amps look really cheap and dont have any writing on them. She also said when the first installer hooked it up she couldnt turn the volume up over 20 or it would cut out.

could be an impedence problem... we would need a little more info as to how they are wired and the brand and model of amp.....

if the protect LED is not coming on it could also be a power problem (fuse connection, etc)
