was wondering if subs should face you or the trunk? or is it by what sounds best? thanks

Definitely toward the back in a car. Lets the bass reverberate and gets you deeper lows. If you like your bass tighter, point it toward the front.

in my experience, fire them toward the rear of the car give you more deep lows but you will get more vibrations upfiring them also sounds good but also with vibrations and fire them toward the front is less to no vibration and sounds good also, depend on the car and the system, you have to play a bit with the enclosure and see in what positions sounds best to you, every vehicle is different.
