Ok well this is the system im going to be buying within the next year or so:

GTO1201.1 II
PX300.4
JL 12" w3v3
SPS-171A
SPS-17C2
DEH-P680MP Premier™

Now my question is will my comp. and coazles be overpowered by the PX300.4? Or will I just have to turn the gain settings down a bunch? And I guess same with the subs will they be overpowered by the GT1201.1, or again will I just have to turn down the gains. Thanks in advance.

I forgot to add, there will be two W3v3's and they will be wired parrale for a 2 ohm load.

Turning a gain up or down does not change the amount of power an amp produces. If you are concerned about the system as it sits, why have you chosen it?

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

Well I've posted on other foruns, and asked what were some reputable brands and then I just picked out the products that appealed to me and were reasonably priced and thought would sound good.

Now I am not arguing with you here, but I am not understanding this fully and hopefully you can help clarify it for me.

By adjusting the gain with a DMM you can see the voltage change up or down with the gain. Going by Ohm's Law, wouldn't this lead to less power output by the amp if you turn the gain down?

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the gain just affect how fast the amp will "get loud"

The gain sets the curve at which the amp will reach max power. I.E The higher the gain the sooner the amp will achieve its max.

Thanks guys, I found some more info on the BCAE1 site.

https://www.bcae1.com/gaincon2.htm

"Amplifier Gain Controls:
Contrary to popular belief, an amplifiers gain control does not determine the maximum power that an amplifier can produce. As long as the preamp/drive signal has sufficient level, the amplifier will produce its maximum power output level. The gain controls are used to match the amplifer's gain to the gain of the other amplifiers in the system (in the case of a multi-amp system). The gain controls also allow you to match the amplifier(s) to the head unit."

zobats...  What are the specs on all of that equipment?

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

The subs are 300w rms
the mono amp is 787w rms at 4 ohm and 1114w rms at 2 ohm
the 4 channel is 123.5w 4ch at 4 ohms and 358w rms at 4 ohm
the coaxles are 50w rms 250 peak
same as the components 50 rms 250 peak
