Hi I just got a new 2006 ford explorer and I need some basic help.  I have two 12" solo x subs both with 2 ohm dvc's.  I also have an optima blue top battery and a kx2500.1 and a zx850.4 to 2 pairs or kicker rs56.2 components.  What is the best way to wire this? I still have the stock batetry connected under the hood and planned to use the optima as a 2nd battery.  I have all kicker 1/0 gauge wire and distribution blocks.  Some help please.  Thanks

First of all before you hook all of that up you need the BIGGEST HIGH OUTPUT ALTERNATER that will fit in their and upgrade THE BIG THREE.

Then, if your gonna use two batteries, get both of the same optimas.

nailed it head on....A second battery will not help you without a high output alternator.   Thats first on the list.

The alternator is what makes the power that gets stored in the batterys.    Cant make power without power.

while I totally agree with the previous posts about the HO alt. I dont necesarrily agree with the suggestion about getting the same optimas. You can run 2 different batteries as long as you have them isolated with an isolator.

xstatic products can help you alot there batcaps and battery.

you will need to have your alt. rewound or buy a high output.there are alot of them out there but ohio generator seems to be one of the best

The purpose of an isolator is to do just what it says ... isolate. If you have 2 different batteries (especially if they arent the same age) the weaker one will slowly damage the better one. The isolator will allow the alternator to supply both batteries with juice, but keep them seperated so one does not pull voltage from the other.

As well it prevents the stereo from drawing power from the battery that needs to start the vehicle
