I have 3 subwoofers dual voice coil with 4 ohms each voice coil.  I would like to connect them all to one amp.  Can I connect them in a combination of serial and parallel? Thank you for your help.

Sure you can.  First what is the amp stable at?  Each sub can either be 2 or 8 ohms.  If the amp is stable to 4 ohms bridged (most two channel amps are this way ) then run the voice coils in parrallel and wire the subs in series for a ohm load of 6 ohms.  You can achieve a 2.6 ohm load if you wire the voice coils in series and then wire the subs in parrallel.  You could get some other loads by doing different things but I personally think wiring every thing the same is better, the coils the same and the subs the same, that each sub will get the same amount of power.

Auex thank you for replying.  The amp is stable at 4 ohms but it gets twice the power at 2 ohms.  It is a JBL bp1200.1.  I was also wondering if I could connect a second JBL bp1200.1 to help power the 3 MBQuart PWD 254 with 300 watts rms 750 watts max.  The amp produces 600 watts at 4 ohms and 1200 watts at 2 ohms. Thank you again.

I checked the stats out and the amp is stable at 2 ohms so I would do the wiring of the voice coils in series and then run the subs in parrallel for a load of 2.6.  As for adding a second amp to three subs I personally wouldn't do it, it would oddball the resistances and one of the subs would end up getting a lot more power than the other two and the subs would end up fight each other, so to speak ( the amplification difference would end up causing cancelation of frequencies because of the difference in power). If you wanted to add another sub and then the other amp then it would work a lot better but I would try it the way I mentioned earlier and see if that sounds good.

Thank you for replying again. In one response you say voice coils in series and subs in parallel, in the other you say the oposite.  Please conferm which will produce 2.6.  Also what would happen if you only connect one of the voice coils (just currious). Thank you for all your help.
