I am putting a JVC KDG120 in a 1984 Chevy Citation that currently has the factory application. This vehicle has the factory radio placed vertically beside the heater control and I'm wondering if the JVC unit will perform properly if mounted vertically? Thanks for your input.

I would recommend doing something else.  You could possibly build a radio pod to sit on the transmission hump.  Try dropping this guy a line and see if he's had any problems: https://www.cardomain.com/ride/2202046.

underdash, or glovecompartment kit is always an option.

in my experience jvc's don't like being mounted sideways.  Had a customer insist I put a cheap sony deck in the same car, in the factory location.  Despite the warnings, it worked and still a little over a year later it's still working fine.
