Take apart the cigarette lighter adaptor and solder onto the positive and negative leads of the circuit board

You can also solder wires directly to the xm plug, tape it up  and then just connect those wires to power and ground

easiest way without having to cut anything open would be to   get a lighter socket that has the power & ground leads on the end. You'll get em for under $5 and there's no chance of error.

I ended up soldering it to the board inside the plug, out of adapters. Thanx for all the input.

I know he already did it his way but I usually get a cigarette lighter plug extension. It has a male and female end. I cut off the male end, plug the xm cig. adapter into the female end and wire up the two wires(make sure to test and see which wire's which. I've seen this method end up making customers happy cause their adaptor isn't all cut if they decide to take it out.

Xtreme, did you attach a fuse to it. Because with the way you did you lose the fuse in the plug.
