How do I hookup an aftermarket deck with the Monsoon system? I found the amp behind the rear seat on the passanger side? Do I have to bypass the amp? How do I connect this? I have the harness, 9003. Need help ASAP. Thanks.

Just wire it normally with a harness and call it good.  The monsoon system will accept high level inputs from the deck no problem.

Make sure to run the accessory wire to the igniton, since there is not accessory at the radio.

isn't the monsoon amp digital and have a different voltage level? what about the ohm config. of the speakers? does that make a difference?

nope;

as geepherder said the Monsoon amp will accept high level inputs from an aftermarket stereo.  Since the speakers and amp were designed to work together, they will continue to work, regardless of the inputs.  If you are replacing the speakers as well, then you would need to take note of the impedance of the factory speakers, which I believe are all 4 ohm in that vehicle.

What about a GTI with Monsoon? Is the system the same as a Jetta? I'm trying to install a AVIC-Z1 and want to make sure I have everything right.

What do I need exactly? All I'm doing is the AVIC and not modifying any speakers. You say I can tap directly into the Monsoon amp without any problems? I've seen posts in other forums saying I need to make a 6v convertor box or something like that. The information is found here:

and here

I don't want to make that little box, in case it might catch fire or something. What I need is how to wire this thing exactly. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Warm regards

that box is interesting. does one need that to hook up an aftermarket deck? seems like that is not required, but why would one go through the trouble.

just did an AVIC-D2 in an 03 GTI yesterday.  No issues with what they were describing there.  They were talking about using the ouput of a sound card from a computer to provide sound for the system.  Just use a wiring harness and antenna adaptor and you'll be fine.  The only issue I ran into requiring some customization was mounting and finishing, the wiring was a cinch.

Any luck on your installation?  I am trying to fix a previous installation nightmare on a 2003 VW Jetta GLS.  Were there factory red wires running to the speakers?  I'm trying to determine whether or not the former installer added new wires to bypass the monsoon wiring harness.  If you have a pic of the car side factory wiring, please post it.  Hope everything turned out well for you.
