Whats up guys...and ladies. Ive been installing at Circuit City for 3 years and did it on my own time for a couple of years before that. I just took a new job at an 18 wheeler dealer installing audio video and navi. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with these vehicles. XM and SIRIUS antennas seem to be main concern right now. I think I may need one of the terk antennas that look like a reagular antenna. Ive worked on them before but to the extent that I'm going to be doing. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can always make a bracket out of stainless steel and mount it to the upper mirror mounts. Then use the standard magnetic antenna that comes with the unit. A second option is to use the domed marine antenna. You will need to fabricate a mount for it as well but they work really good. Due to the nature of how much a rig is on the road as compared to a regular car, I would probably head to the marine antenna myself. It is white in color, about 3" around and 3" high.

there are some antennas that are specifically made for big trucks that have a bracket especially for mounting on one of the side mirrors. unless you decide to custom mount or hide the small antenna on top of the cab or sleeper, i say thats the way to go. my .02 posted_image

I've done lots of them on the mirrors, haven't seen a problem yet...

I would have to tell you this, The new single wire antennas work pretty good. if that truck has a wind scoop on the top of the truck i would say hide it in there. it will see through that fiberglass and that location is on the highest point of the truck. test the antenna buy using double stick tape or just tape first with out running antenna through the cab just have it go through the door and give power to the unit and see if you get the preview station if you do than you should be good to go. actually install the antenna now. also test all your wires because most wires in a truck or big rig are yellow. and that is annoying. yellow with small writing.

Thanks for the help guys. Its giving me some good ideas. The problem with putting it on top of the rig is its one of those trucks that carry cars and a car hang directly over the top of the cabin. So I dont know. And im not too confident in the whole inside of the cabin. Any more help guys?
