I have been looking around, and cant find anything regarding this.  What is the diffrence between the two?  I thought Premier was a cheaper dept. of Pioneer.  I was at Tweeter, and the guy said it was actually better than Pioneer?  I would just like to know for sure what the change in quality is.  I'm about to buy the DEH-P7800MP which cost 350-400bux so i want to find this out before purchasing it.  Thanks

Premier is higher quality. Those Premier decks are pretty good.

The only difference is the warranty. Premier often has a unit that the regular Pioneer line doesn't, but the tech or looks from that trickles down to the regular Pioneer gear.

Ahhh but there are small differences between the lines, one must just look close to find out the differences is all. Premiere is the higher end line of Pioneer, available at select dealers. The extra year warranty is a starting point, after that it is feature content only. The core remains the same.

Generally speaking its on pioneer premier you get a 2 year warrenty, gold plated preouts and on their high voltage decks instead of being 4v they are 6.5v. The preout voltage thing you need to double check though

We sell Pioneer at the shop I work at and they seem to offer some very nice head units that are very feature rich for the price.  I especially like the 4 position rocker switch as it saves us installers time durring the vehicles check out.  But Pioneer seems to be the only company with some design flaws.  The first one is the small resistor on the power lead.  It is there to tame voltage peaks so they don't do damage to the head units circuit board.  However Pioneer used a resistor that is rated for  little power as we have had several customers come back with them popped.  The second one is on the RCA circuit.  Apparently the ground trace on the circuit board is too small and susceptible to damage when the positive lead of an RCA is accidently grounded.  This damage causes noise issues within the head unit.

Now my question to the Premier dealers; do the Premier decks have these same issues?

Thanks all.  They definately do have some great stuff for the price range.  I did a good bit of research, and compared the majority of companies' units in that price range.  The only company that was real close was Kenwood.  They were almost identical in the features dept.  BUT, Pioneer is the only company to offer a similar display in this price range.  I dont know how the pixels or whatever compare, but i do know that the Pioneer screens look MUCH smoother and thats what completes the package compared to Kenwood.  Thanks for clearin that up some!

If you have mostly gone by just sight on we sites I highly suggest you go physically look at the kenwood's top line versus pioneer top line. I personally like the pioneers better but i made the mistake of comparing by web site picture only. The Kenwood's screen in the pictures look very grainy as apposed to the nice clear picture of the pioneer. That was one of the things that made me choose pioneer over Kenwood. THat was a mistake. After I bought the pioneed (780MP) I happen to come across one of the Kenwoods (KDC-X990)in a shop and the picture was clear as a bell. It had a few more options then the pioneer and wasn't a whole lot more expensive. If i had it to do all over again I would have gone with the Kenwood.

Yeah, i looked at what i could.  Problem is, with high-end receivers, they are only at high-end shops.  Most if not all retail shops will go straight from the 250-300dollar units to the 1,000dollar video decks.  Tweeter was one of the only places around here carrying that range of HU, so i looked at what i could.  Can't argue with the buttons though, looks really clean!  Cause doodie, if i'm spendin that kind of money, might as well look good too!!!
