When I first layed the wiring in my car it  was in anticipation of lower wattage amps, since after laying the wiring I upgraded the amps and speakers.

I am told I have too much power to my front channel speakers  and sub.

I figured I can just write down what I have and you can tell me where I goofed,if you would be so kind.

from battery to positive distribution block I have a 4 gauge wire with a 125 amp anl fuse near the battery, from chassis to negative distribution block I ran a 4 gauge wire as well.

from both + and -  dist blocks I have run 8 gauge wire yet I plan to upgrade to four gauge wires.(on power side both amps are fuse protected with 50 amp inline fuses)

front speakers are a set of mb quart dsd 216 components rated at 50-120wrms...(per channel) they are powered by a rockford fosgate 550s amp supplying 140wrms per channel

the sub is an IDQ D2 V.2 12"  rated at 350wrms powered by yet another 550wrms rockford fosgate amp sending 550wrms to the sub.

everything sounds great. Can I blow them at any time? is this too much power if used wisely? I was under the belief that it is better to over power than to underpower, less chance of clipping?

thank you very much!!!

For the most part it is better to overpower a speaker ( within reason ) than to underpower one.  An amplifier that has more power will be able to supply a cleaner signal to the speakers ( when gained correctly ) at higher volumes.  The problem with smaller amplifiers is that a person would try to gain the amp higher to make the stereo louder and in doing so would add alot of distortion.  As far as blowing your speakers,  they probably will not blow if the amp is tuned correctly ( crossover and gains).
