I never really saw a good review on that gear, but its quite possible that you have the positive and negative reversed on one of the drivers. Try disconecting one of the subs and see if the volume increases.

mofo subs are power accoustic and a true 3000 watts will start them on fire. you get what you buy a china woofer or tialand.

for this said 3000 watt amplifier, are you providing the proper voltage and current it will demand....what type of fuses does the amp have, and what type of alternator, battery and other upgrades do you have to power it?

What type of enclosure?  What size?  How are the woofers wired and did you check polarity as described above?  What make and model amplifier?  What is the net impedance load on the amp?  How was your gain set?  What vehicle and how are the woofers mounted in the vehicle?  And no, your unacceptable sound quality will not be helped by a cap.

The very first suggestion is what you need to pay attention to. Disconnect one sub and see if it magically has more bass response. If it does then one of the two subs are wired backwards, as in you have hooked + to - and - to +. This is called out of phase and is most noticeable as a lack of bass response.

And for your question about positive or negative wire.

Wire is wire..there is no difference between pos. or neg.

It is just labeled that was for ease if use and connections.
