Goodday all

I have a pioneer deh2800mp head unit and was running an older pair of Infinity Kappas in the rear with factory speakers in the front doors

I recently bought new Kappas for the doors and for the rear deck but noticed too late that the new speakers were 2 ohm instead of 4 ohm

They do sound great but I am worried about cooking the receiver

I don't want to run them in series or add amplifiers at this time

Would a 2 ohm 5 watt resistor in series with each speaker keep my receiver stable?

If so would it be placed on the + wire or the - wire?

Thanks in advance   Ken

I'm afraid your only options are to add an amp or use 4 ohm speakers. Adding a series resistor is not a good idea. The power from the head unit would be split between the sreies resistor and the speaker. If the HU puts out 30 watts, then the resistor would get 15w and the speaker gets the other 15w. Half of your power is wasted on the resistor, and the speaker is only half as loud as it shuld be.
