i have a Power Power Acoustik LT980/2 -- 2-Channel Amplifier max power 980 W rms 560W X 1(bridged) / 280W X 2(2 ohm) / 220 X 2(4 ohm).My subs are 2 rockford P2 10" 200W rms 400W max wired in parallel to give 2 ohms. I have a Power Acoustik PCNC-2.0F -- 3.0 Farad Digital Capacitor but my system with 1 amp dims my lights and sucks so much power that if i turn it up the vehicle jerks while driving. If the amp is wired at 4 ohms i don't have any of these problems. Can anyone help me. My car is a mitsubishi galant 1991 model.

Sounds to me like you have a couple of choices. 1) wire your system for 4-ohms or 2) install a high-output alternator. Actually depending on how you have your system wired your amplifier it is being overloaded as it is only rated to a 4-ohm load if it's bridged.

I had a similar situation with my power accoustic cap that was a pcnc-2.0f remarked as a 3 farad cap. It put more of a strain on the system then it did help it. I got mine of ebay and have no faith in the product. It was sold as a supposidly 3 farad, but you refference the part number and its only a 2.
Caps put more strain on the electrical system with the amp so best bet would be to sell it and save up for a HO Alt.
Thanx 4 the help really appreciate it. Think i'll save up 4 a HO alt as suggested. Any ideas on wat type of HO alt to get and where the best bargain could be found?
