i have a 2004 honda civic sedan and just recently put a headunit in it. for some reason the music will randomaly cut in and out....the head unit and subs both stay on and and the subs play whether the music is on or off......any ideas on what this could be or how to fix it? would running and amp to my interior speakers help?

Are your interior speakers stock or aftermarket?

You have something dead shorting by the sounds of it. Time to pull apart the install and find out what is going on.

one or more of your speaker wires is more than likely shorting to ground. your looking for loose wire strands. bare wire. anything that could short out and cause the radio internal amp to shut down. check doors factory wires. basically check all the wires from the hu to the actual speakers shorting out.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

People on this forum have said some of the newer Infinity speakers are two ohm instead of four.  I'm not sure if this only deals with component speakers or not, but look into this.  It's possible this is your problem, too.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

Well yes...check the impepences of the speakers...if they are 2 ohm you better get an amp before you F up your HU.
