Hi I have a JVC headunit; I've had it for about 4-5 years. My problem is that when listening to the radio and raise the volume pass 25 or in some cases 30 the speakers start to crack more like a popping sound however when I play a cassette yes you heard right or the CD changer that is hooked up to it I have no problems whatsoever. The music sounds clear. So, I say that there's nothing wrong with the speakers then since it only happens when I listen to the radio. Is there something wrong with the unit internally?

the internal amp maybe going as you said you had it a while. or even the radios circuits could be loose or on there way out. its hard to say since your talking about an old unit. and well old units do that they deteriorate just as all electronics eventrully pass on.

Thanks, is this something that can fixed at a shop or I'm I better off replacing it? It's been a good unit; never have problems with it. My other JVC; it is still being used, it's in my wifes' Saturn and this one is older than the one I have. If I can get it fixed it'll be better because of funds. Also one of my amps out for the speaker gave out. Instead of being a 4 channel it's now a 3 channel. What went wrong here? It's an Alpine Flex 4 model MRP-F306. Thanks

This is not a amplifier issue at all. It is a source issue. If it were an amplifier issue, it would be present on all sources. To me, this is a failure in the tuner section of the unit. Fix, no, replace, yes. Verify that it is the channel in the amp by swapping the speakers from channel to channel. If the opposite side of the car now goes quite, then it is the amp or before the amp. Wire the speakers back to original. Swap the rca cables side to side, if the other side goes dead, then the amp is fine. Time to look at a bad rca cable or a bad preamp output on the source unit.
