Does anyone out there have some audio info on these vehicles. Is there any factory amp? I will be replacing the stock HU with a JVC DVD player. Is there a wiring harness or am I better off cutting the wiring? Thanks guys.

You're almost never better off cutting factory wire harnesses. These cars use the Volkswagen harness (scoshe part #: VW01B) but the accessory and constant are opposite, so u could repin the harness or just hook yellow to red. They also use the Volkswagen antenna adapter.
In most of the Base model ML's you can hook up the amp turn on wire (hook up blue/white from the deck to blue in the VW harness) and you should be fine. However, some of the ML's have a factory amp that utilizes fiberoptics (identifiable by the orange colored fiberopitc wires at the factory deck) in which case you probably would have to fully rewire the vehicle to change the headunit.
Hope that helps
