ok, i know this has been posted many times in the this forum, but as we all know every situation is different, and i have narrow it down, but still cant knock it out!  the whine is low but the hissing noise is high

it was a up graded system, did touch the amp for the highs but after we changed the sub amp and the speakers for the highs, the whine began coming from the highs, we replaced the battery , disconnected the sub amp, cleaned the grounds, switch the high amp.

when i unplug the rca's from the amp the whine stops, when we unplug the rca's from the head unit it stops, but only when no rca's are connected! the head unit is a Kenwood DDX-7017 double din! what else should i try . or what could it be!

its a 2001 buick park ave. 4 gauge from the battery  to the dist block then 8 gauge to the hist amp, which is a dual 240 (shrug, his stuff) all stinger pro series wires. concept 5.25, concept 3.5, Mb quart dicuss 6x9! ground point is the a sanded down bare surface 11 inchs in length, from the frame in the truck, also all the grounds are the same as the power wires! and there is a 4 gauge ground on the frame underneth the hood goin to the battery!

Try grounding the rca outer shields at both the deck and the amp.  You can even link them both to the amp ground(s) if you like.

it worked when i grounded just one side of it at the HU.

what caused that?

and the high amp was was turning off when i connected the sub amp! could that had been the problem?

the shield ground wire limits the voltage of the shield to ground. by limiting this voltage you reduce shield noise current.

Prove your connections, use a meter!
