Hey fellas. it's been a long time. anyways, i recently came across a good deal on an amp (Hifonics Brutus 1500D), that i couldnt pass up. So, i go ahead and wire it up, to some infinity subs, svc 4ohm, wire'd down to 2 ohms parallel. Doesnt sound right.  for some reason I have to reverse the polarity on one of them for the subs to work properly? This is the first time i've ever owned a mono block amp, is this how its supposed to be? I already blew the infinity that was reversed. I got a polk in there now, that one too will probably be blown. someone help please. thanks.

There is no difference wiring a mono amp than using a stereo amp bridged.  If you had to reverse one of the speakers, it must have been connected in reverse polarity to begin with.  If you are blowing speakers then either the amp gain is too high or the amp simply produces too much power for the speakers.

I think it might be a combination of both, I dont know what voltage this hu puts out, and the amp puts out 1000w x1@ 2ohm, the subs are rated at 300w rms, 1220 peak. but that 1000 is at 14.4 right? not sure how to calculate it at 12v.

what kills me is 300/1220... dont most subs go double rms as peak? thats why i figured an estimated 400-500 wouldnt be killer since the peak is 1220?

Peak is double RMS...But companies just make up a big number to get you to buy the products. If you have 2 subs each 300 rms than you'll be fine with that amp...600 RMS on a 1000 watt capable amp is ok...Just know how to set your gains.
