I have 2 12" powerbase S-12 4-ohm SVC subs I want to run at 2 -ohms. I need 300 RMS to each sub. I only have less than 200 to spend any suggestions?  I was using an American Bass SQ-540 to push them but there is not nearly enough power there. Thanks for any and all help.

Avoid Profile and the other bargain basement brands at any price, IMO.  Finding 600 watts @ 2-ohms for $200 is generally pretty tough if you want anything of quality, but HERE is a great deal for you to consider.

I am not understanding the tech facts on the page.

  • Per channel into 4 ohms: 400W x 1 (0.08% THD)
  • Per channel into 2 ohms: 600W x 1
  • Brigded 4 ohms: 1000W x 1
  • If it is a MONO block amp, how can it be per channel 400W @ 4 ohms, 600W @ 2 ohms AND 1000W @ 4 ohms? Is that a max power rating?

Either would work too. I like both the Alpine and these Kenwoods.

Specs for that Alpine are RMS ratings. I don't know why some sites add weird specs like bridged 1 channel crap.

  • "Per channel" is of course the wrong thing to say since it is a mono amp, there is one channel of output.  The amp is rated at 400 watts into 4-ohms and 600 watts into 2-ohms RMS at rated distortion levels.  Alpine makes good quality amps.

Here is another silly question. Since I have two subs that require 300 RMS would I need an amp with 600 RMS total @ 2 ohms or just 300?

That would work but each sub would be getting 180 rms a piece.

Look for an amp that puts out 600 rms or more total @ 2 ohms.

    Visionik...No

MA...ok...that amp will only push 200 rms to each sub.

Are you wanting to find an amp that will push atleast 300 rms to each sub??

For the price of those kenwoods its a pretty good deal.
