Big 3 advice on wiring

Ok here we go. On my 2005 F-150 supercrew, I cleaned up all the factory connections from battery to ground, engine to chassis and added a 4 guage power cable along side the factory 8 guage to the battery from the stock 130 amp alternator. I also added a 4 guage cable from a clean chassis ground to the alternator mounting bracket. I purchased 2 optima batteries, a red top for under the hood and a yellow top which I will be installing in the center console. My amps are right behind the front seats. I have a Kenwood 9152D amp powering 2 10" kenwood subs and 2 Kenwood  7252 amps powering front and rear.channels. On the front and rear channels I have 4 tweeters and 2 - 51/4 mid bass  (6 front and 6 rear total)  I now have 0 guage cable from the battery to a distribution block split to 4 gauge to 2 caps and to the amps. I'm going to move the 0 gauge to the second optima, and probably nix the caps. My question is should I run just  sub amp off of the second optima and continue using the front red top for the other 2 amps or run all three off of the yellow top or does it make a differance. I know the subs use a lot more power. I've also purchased a battery isolator and have overkill on my all my ground connections.  Thanks for this website, its been invaluable. I would say that the general idea of having a second, isolated battery is so that you can run your sound system with the car off and know that there will be power to start the car in the morning.  But other than that, it doesn't make any difference what battery you use for any amplifier.

Man, those large gauge wires aren't cheap! Neither are the batteries and necessary connectors. Frankly, before I spent another dime on power, I would start tweaking/upgrading your audio components. Honestly, it really sounds like you are at a good place, power-wise. It sounds like you've done an excellent job.

I'm primarily an audio guy, and you didn't ask for advice to this end, but I have a few comments about your audio:

I think you may have too many tweeters. In my opinion, for best stereo sound a car should have one pair of tweeters up front, and maybe one pair in back, if you like rear fill. No more. In fact, the same generally goes for midrange drivers. Midbass? It becomes more desirable to start adding up.

You want to lighten your electrical load? Switch from the two 7252 amplifiers to some full-range class d amplifiers. Eclipse's latest come to mind. Those class AB Kenwoods are probably ~50% efficient. You can expect to see 20-40% better efficiency with a class d product like the Eclipse line.

I appreciate the feedback, I tried to stay with one manufacturer, but now I've found that it doesnt really matter. I like crystal clear seperation rather than decible pounding. I kinda overkilled in some places, (wiring). I am looking at upgrading my front and rear channel speakers for a little more sound, but upon reading about certain spekers I get overwhelmed.  And prices range astronomically, Any suggestions? I have factory 6 x 9 holes in all four doors and a few mounting holes for seperates. I  have learned most expensive isnt always the best. I think I have enuff power for now.   I also put a sound system in my new Kenworth all Kenwood except the speakers, they are Infinity Loudspeakers, They sound awsome and can take a lot of power. Kenwood Kac541. Oh ya Ive read a little about class D amps. Whats the major differance? Thanks for the input...  John..

Thanks..  The articles were very deep...   (reading puts me to sleep)  But I did realize the main differance between the 2. I never thought about input power to the amps, But I've read enough such that when the 2006 model head units were coming up I ipgraded to a new (2005)  Kenwood Kac889 because the 3 RCA outs were 5 volts,  up from the 4 volts in my Kac 589. I need to read a little more on frequencies to taylor my sound. the 889 has more adjustments in this area. I can even adjust WOW... Whatever that is...Lol...Thanks again for your advice

If change is in the air, get rid of all those speakers. Your vehicle stock size is 5x7" (or 6x8" for some people) and not a 6x9" as you were thinking. What you have now with the 5 1/4" + dual tweeters is a little overkill and leaves a little to be desired. What you can do should you like, is to upgrade to 6.75" component speakers for the front and either the same type of speaker in the back or a same sized but coaxial (2way or 3way) type of speaker. You will need to either purchase or make a mounting template adaptor to fit these speakers but they will indeed fit. Add some sound deadening to the doors while you are in there as you have some big metal gongs that are masquerading as door panels. You need to keep them quiet. The new Eclipse amps, in particular the XA4000 full range class D is a monster, an awesome amplifier that is making it's presence felt in my customers vehicles rather regularily.

I really think these audio component changes will do more good than continuing to tweak the power.

Also, please don't even start to mess with eq'ing the frequencies until you have a solid foundation.

Thanks for the advice. I havent touched the frequencies and probably wont. I've been reading into Eclipse, there amps sound enticing. How about speakers? I have fabricated the 5 1/4 speakers into the 6x8 holes into the doors with wood. I've also done my own fiberglass over a wood box for my subs. I've also been looking into dynamat. I like the seperation of componant speakers. I'm considering Polk Audio. Yes no Maybe? thanks for all the advice. Money is no object...  Ya right...  thanks again
