I dont know a whole lot about car audio.  I have one Dual 4 OHM subwoofer and I need an amplifier.  The only amp I can use is a Class-D at 2 ohms correct?

The sub is 500w RMS and 1000peak, so im thinking about getting the Visonik V317SX, which is 400w RMS @ 4ohm and 800w Max @ 2ohm...Would this combination work?

Blowing up in a car accident doesnt worry me, as long as I'm putting out some major dB's when I die...

Yeah, it'll work, but the Visonik amps are "swap-o-rama special" chunks of garbage... And it'll do nowhere NEAR 400/800 watts.

What woofer do you have, exactly? With an idea of the gear you have already, the better an idea we can give you as to an appropriate amplifier model and manufacturer.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Also how much are you wanting to spend on an amplifier??

Do you have an enclosure for your subwoofer yet??

You don't HAVE to use a class D amp for subs...they are just more efficient...an amp is an amp.

I allready have a sealed 1.3ci. Box, the sub, and an 8gauge wiring kit. The sub is a Power Acoustik Silver series 12...Not the greatest sub buts its what my budget allows. I have about $150-250 to spend on the amp but id like to spend under $200..

There ya go, well within your price range, its gonna test at approx 460-470 wrms and its a solid amp.

Kenwood KAC-9102D or KAC-9152D...both under 200 bucks

Either will power that sub easily...just keep the bass boost off and properly set your gain and lowpass.

The MTX isnt bad but I think im going with the Kenwood KAC-9102D. It would only be $40 more and a much more powerful and durable amp. Plus the Kenwood amp leaves me plenty of power to upgrade my sub later. Thanks alot azn, raven, ill be sure to post up some pictures when I get it all installed...

No problem...I really like those kenwood amps...a lotta people don't like them and say they are crap...but if they can take the torture I have put them through they are good in my book.
