Im new. And stupid. so bare with.

I have an 86 camaro and i wanted to get some thump and my friend offered to sell me 2 not even used 12in Power Acoustik subs (now i here that there crap subs or something)for 150 .and so me and a buddy set off to build a box and we were able to but then he noticed that the are between the 2 12s was just big enough to safely mount a 10. so i picked one up and about a half a month later i have my amp turned up to about 80% power ( its a 2000 watt) and i noticed that on certain songs the 10 hitts like mad but my 12s do almost nothing. My buddy told me that the 10 was cancelling the current or something.

So i beg of you Help me! I have almost no idea whats going on and i dont wanna scrw anyhitng up. And remember...Im A NOOB and STUPID.

your frind is probably right, running diffent brand and size of subs is a big no no.   they can very easily cancel the waves of the other subs.    pick a woffer and stay with the same size and brand and model.

do not mix unless you plan to spend money of seperate amps and lots of processing or your sound

dam. i was afraid of that. So my solution is get rid of the 10. OK. Bout if i do that AND want to buy a third 12 (Its just a personel thing. IM sure 2 would thump just as hard) would my amp be enogh(The 12 are rated at 1800 watts apiece)? IM just unsure of pretty much anyhitng.

What amp do you have??? For an amp that puts out 2000 real watts would cost a pretty penny.

If you want to buy another 12 then check first if the amp can safely handle the impedances that you wire it up for.

Well I guess crank that baby up and wait for it to take a duece...

Cheap but reliable amp is the Kenwood KAC-9102D or the 9152D...can get either for under 200.

By adding a 3rd sub your just streaching the real world 500 watts that amp is pushing even further.    I would stick with the 2 12"s and call it a day

how do you have all 3 subs wired?
is the amp a mono block?

what impedence are the woofers

are you sure that the 12's arent wired out of phase?

It concerns me that you said you had your amp turned up to 80% power.  I'm thinking you mean your amp gain control- do a search in this forum for how to set gains.

If you unplug one of the rca's at the amp (left or right) and it gets louder, switch the two wires around on one of the subs (that means their out of phase, and one sub is cancelling the other).
