Hi guys. I just bought a new capacitor but I just had one question. I might sound dumb but am I supposed to start my vehicle before charging the capacitor with the resistor? Any help would be great!

depends, if it a 1 farad cap you dont need to charge it, just hook it up and turn the car on, itll charge itself.

You don't have to start the car and I recomend using the suplied bulb or resistor charging it no matter what size. A capacitor can turn into a hand grenade otherwise....

hey since you like throwing your money away, care to buy me some things? lol! caps are almost always a complete waste of money. All you are doing is adding load on the battery and trying to cover up the fact that your alternator cant keep up with your current system. Upgrade the Big 3 then your alternator if you still need an improvement and sell the cap on ebay.

Big Three will do a lot more than a cap.

What is the big three? I am just running two alpine type r 10's with a mtx 6500d on each. A 20 farad capacitor shoudl be mroe then enough is what I was told. AM I wrong?

more than enough for what? a properly built electrical system doesnt ever need a cap. For the price of a true 20 farad cap you could probably get a H/O alternator which will do way more for you than a cap ever will. you came to us for help and as you can see, no one who has posted back will ever recommend a cap to anyone. Use the forum search function for capacitors and you will see a million other similar posts and a few great ones on cap bashing. ------------- "People with mullets live 40% longer" - Ricky Bobby

If you already purchased the cap, then upgrade the 3 points of current capacity as this will greatly improve the vehicles electrical systems ability to supply power to the added electrical load. IMO, you won't have to " get rid of the things that you bought" but help yourself by improving something on your car that won't cost you alot more money.
