i have a 2002 escalade and im building a custom enclosure for four 12s. I looking at two different 12s; JL Audio W7 and Alpine Type-X. Il'l also consider other brands if you have any suggestions. Im also gonna need amps for which every i get.

I beleive there not even truely in the same ballpark, a W7 will outperform the type X in both SPL and Sq. I would assume you are just going for SPL from the sheer fact you want 4 12s. If that is the case there definatly are other brands to choose from.
Basically, list what you want before some other people see this so they will be able to help you more. example, do you want just LOUD bass, or great quality. Also are you decided on sizes (like a 13w7 or a solo baric square sub?) And are you planning a high output alternator?

Sorry for leaving some info out. I'm building a show truck but i want to have the sound there when i want to just listen to music to and from the show. I want more SQ than SPL but if i can be in the middle, that would be fine. I do have an HO alternator. Heres a list of what i have so far without the sub/amp set-up: - Eclipse CD8445 Head Unit
- Eclipse EQ2102 Eq
- Eclipse SC8365 6.5" 3-way Components (2 sets in front doors)
- Eclipse SC8355 5.25" 3-way Components (2 sets in rear doors)
- Eclipse SC8255 5.25" 2-way Components (1 set in kick panels)
- Optima Yellow Top Battery (2: 1 under hood and 1 in back)
- All power lines upgraded with Stinger Expert Series 1/0 gauge
I also dont have any amps for the componets so any suggestion would be nice. Thanks!

Well you also might want to check into some RE xxx or the RE mt subs they are some beast but they do come at a price. Also you might want to check into a directed audio amp for your comps i think on the net you can get a 4chan for like 50bucks new and thats putting out like 35/40 rms per chan. Scoot

the w7 and the type X are no where near the same class. The x is closer to a w6. 4 12w7s would be insane in an escalade.

I agree with kirktcashalini and coppellstereo. Since it is a show car and everything else is eclipse (great choice by the way) get eclipse subs. The titanium series subs are the top of eclipses line and are outstanding subs. Hard to beat.

subs are 750w a piece.
They have dual 2ohm and dual 4ohm configurations.
you could use the 4ohm and get a final load of 2ohms.
I dont think eclipse has a single amp that could handle this though.

I would say you will have to get a minimum of 2 amps, 1 for each pair of subs. Since you arent/shouldnt have all 4 subs in 1 shared chambered box this will actually be more helpful i would think. You could always talk to your local eclipse rep and see what they say.
