First my car and setup:

2004 Mazda 3s Hatchback running a KX600.1(750 watts) to a S12L7 in a 3.25cu.ft vented enclosure (Kickers recommended SPL enclosure)

Situation: Todays temp was 94 degrees. I tested SPL windows open at 138.6, windows closed 138.6. My highest was 139.2. Tomorrow is MECA competition. I'm entering Street Amateur 0-750 class. The shop that I ran the SPL meter stated that tomorrow as long as I keep the stereo off and only turn it on while in the judging lane I should see higher numbers. They figured I should see 142-145, if I can keep the amplifier cool.

His reasoning behind this assumption is that I was playing my stereo for about a half an hour before I got to the shop. Thus the amp was already warm and not as efficient.

Opinions?

probably not, but you might see a few tenths due to a fully charged battery.

I have not found heat to be an issue unless the subs are actually hot to the touch then you might start dropping off

suggestions for higher SPL.    build a box that is tuned to about 42-45hz....then your in car note will be in the low 50 hz range.     This will be an SPL only design but should work quite well

in meca do you test in car or is it drive by SPL?    I cant remember

In car. Basically outlaw SPL. You can put the mic anywhere from my understanding. This is my first MECA event.

Also, is my SPL readings accurate for 1 12". It just doesn't seem that low. I mean my one 12 in my car sounds as loud as my friends Tahoe with 2 Mojo 12's. And he hit 151 last year.

certian notes may sound just as loud, But I know that I have been in some cars in the High 150's and they normally dont sound as loud as our 152-153, because we play a lower note

The human ear will percieve a lower note as louder...No I dont know why but I just know ti works

where are you going to events at? state?    If I get a chance to judge a USaci show out there I would gladly spend some time looking at your car and giving tips.

Judging by MECA im gonna say southeast somewhere?

Well Jeff I pretty much blew it today. Got into the judging lane and pulled a whopping 133.8. Could not figure out what was going on. Until I got ready to leave and went to turn the sub down because of my daughter being in the car. Well it was already down. I usually run +5 to bang and it was set at 0. Ho well, i still came home second in Amateur Street 2.

Forgot to add that the guy who beat my pulled a 134.8. I could kick myself in the balls for that mistake.
