Probably around 65 amps or so. The owner's maual would have the information, I'm sure.

I had a 165A alternator from Alterstart on my Civic, and it was specified to put out 80A at idle. Without a current meter in the system, or without the manufacturers information, there's no way to guess.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

I'm gonna prolly sound silly here, but is this rockford fosgate we're talking about? Cause I did a general internet search for Rockford alternators and nothing really came up, it all referenced back to fosgate, but they don't have anything on their page about it.

I think Rockford should stick to stereo compontents rather than auto parts. There are plenty of high output alternators on the market that the company specialzes in. I don't think I would every buy a Bosch stereo or Delco speakers.

Chances are Rockford Fosgate had another company that specializes in alternators and regulators at the time make them and they then had their logo put on it. They might have also spec's the case to be slightly different so it was not easy to compare or have people know who the parent manufacturer was. I remember years ago Alpine when they had security systems first coming out had some Autopage guts in them and back when they started offering the first indash CD players they had Sony transports inside.

its just fine for an everyday driver.   amperage must be drawn it cannot be pushed.

jeff, is that saying that when I put in a second alternator, it only creates as much amperage as what's pulled? Or is it always making that amperage.  Also, i'm looking at getting into SPL systems, and I heard (though I don't trust the person that said it) when installing secondary alternator systems, batteries are needed. You can just wire stright to your block. That would be false correct?

The whole point of a second alternator is generally to charge multiple batteries.   I have found it to be best for competiton use to use a Muilti-Alternator regulator, something like what HO-ALTS and Powermaster make.   This will sub the outputs of the alternators and you can connect to one battery under the hood, then connect thier to more batteryies in the back of the vehicle.

Thats just the way I run them, but I have seen other setups as well

1 alt per battery bank (1 up front 1 for in back)

aLL ALTS to the back batts then a 1/0 gauage wire from back batts to front batt

There are numerous options but the first I meantioned is what I use
