I have 2 12" kicker comps that call for 1 cu ft per sub. what will the effect be if I put them in an enclosure less than that . Say between .7 and .9. They are 4 ohm dvc running off memphis 500/1.Trying to fit them in to a 2002 silverado without having to raise seat.

you will need to give them a little more power than they recommend smaller boxes require more power, generally. Also your subs wont be as loud and boomy.

it may effect the low notes and the spl and the cones can get warm easy, but it will be more punchier.

Stuff the box with a two pounds of a premium fill like Acoustifil from Parts Express.  Comps tend to be very peaky in the higher sub freqs with enclosures as small as 1 cu ft.  The fill will extend the response as much as possible.  IMO, you should look for subs that will perform better in small enclosures and trade them out at some point down the road.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

If it calls for 1.0,  .9 shouldn't bee too bad.  You could also form the bottom of the enclosure out of fiberglass to get the most space out of the factory contours.
