I have 2 kenwood KFC XW1202DVC subs there 2+2 ohms a piece. I want to beable to still run my amp and speakers at 1Ohm. Rather then have to run it at 2 ohms. I was thinking about using a set up with a power resistor but im not quite sure on how that would turn out. Any help or ideas would help Thank you

Firstly, you don't run speakers at ANY impedance, they are a load that you run the AMP to.

What amp do you have? Depending on your amplifier, read on...

A stereo amp, in stereo mode, your only options are:
1 or 4 ohms per channel

A stereo amp, bridged, your only options are:
.25, 1 or 4 ohms per channel

A mono amp, your only options are:
.5, 2 or 8 ohms

Any resistor you add will only waste power, so don't do that. Just put that idea out of your mind... posted_image

Well my amp is a kenwood kacx812d puts a 1016rms CEA rating at 1ohm and the subs i want to use are dual 2 ohms.... not possible the only way i can run that setup is by puting the subs in series then in parrel to get 2 ohms but that will only give my subs 800watts rms that should be good enough but the more power the better.... Thats why I wanted to hook up the power resitor if i could so i can bring it up from .5ohms to 1 ohm to get some more power.... "THIS has nothing to do with this forum" but my other piece of doodie dual amp that is a couple years old will not come out of protect mode as soon as it gets any type of power it goes into protect and thats with out haveing any signal leads hooked up. Your second amp has had the magic smoke that makes it work released. It needs to go to a service shop to have the magic smoke recharged.

Actually no it didnt.... it was working fine yesterday the day b4 that and the day b4 that and for whatever reason today it stop working..could have been from the storm we had yesterday and the power went out a few times while I was watching a movie. so that could have fried the amp in someway I guess? cause that was the last time it was used. Not only that but im not new to this but still have ?s that need to be answered. Thank you again
