Hi all. I've been reading things on this site for a long time and just recently had a question worth posting on here.
I have an Eclipse head unit (CD4000) that I'm using as a second sound system in the bed of my GMC Sonoma. I have a fiberglass hard cover that I fiberglassed four 6.5" speaker pods to the underside of and I'm having trouble coming up with a way to power the head unit. I'd like to be able to remove the head unit with a simple device (that's what I'm asking) so I can take the head unit with me as a security precaution. Imagine the faceplate on a deck if you can. How simple it is to just click it in to place and have power provided by the copper connectors.
The head unit will be enclosed in a fiberglass shell just large enough to house everything including a small 60mm computer fan for added cooling due to the small volume and high heat. I'd like to be able to take the head unit enclosure and just click it up into position on the underside of my topper, and hit the power button but I'm not sure of A) how to hold it up there where it has sufficient safety and strength and B) the right electrical connections so 4 channels, 2 power wires, a ground wire and the antenna will all line up and work properly. I was thinking of those copper connections on the back of a faceplate, but I think the voltage drop would be too great to power at 12.5V.
Any ideas are welcome and thanks in advance!
Buy yourself a set of harnesses that are male and female is the best bet. Take for example a GMO2 and a GM02R. Use the reverse side as the supply side and the normal side on the deck. Solder and heatshrink the Eclipse harness to the GM02 and you are left with one good solid molex that will provide years of reliable connections.

go to best buy or CC and buy a smart harness it is a harness that has a vehical side a nd a radio side with a disconect in the middle modified as needed than all you have to do is leave some extra length and you have a quick disconect in the middle as far as mounting it i can think of a few ways but would be here all night tryn to figure out how to explain them maybe make some thing sloted so the radio mount could slide in and out hope this helps and good luck

Say no more. Thanks a ton. I'm sitting here trying to imagine swivels and brackets and whatnot. The easiest thing in the world and the best idea yet! Thanks Josh. I'll use MDF and set up a latch at the end that holds the deck in place. Thanks a lot.
