hot amp possible fan?

MY amp is running not too hot but pretty warm we will say and i was wondering computer fans run on 12v dc right im am going to build a amp rack and i was wondering if i could install a couple of them under the mounted amp to cool it. can i just wire it like a ... lets say neon light or anything else power and ground? and on the fans would it be better to have them blow one the amp or well suck the air any help would be appreciated.. you could put in little fans like that, but do you know why the amp is running that hot. Is it because you run it hard, or is something not right? If it's a little 60x2 amp or something and it's hot, something may be areye, but if it's a bigger amp, then yeah, a couple of fans may not b the worst idea ever. I have a Coustic 600SE that like to run pretty hot, so I took and cut out a square on eiter side of the amp (on the sides where the rca's go, then on the power side) one fan on the high side, one on the side closer to the floor. Now, I don't recommend cutting your amp like that, especially if you have no idea what you're doing, but fans on the heat sink built portions could definetely help. wiring wise, well, I just tapped off my power inputs for the amp, but there's prolly a better way, someone else is sure to have a method ------------- Greed is for amateurs.

its a 1500.2 so itl run hott but. i would like to try and keep it cooler than it is now.. thnkx for tha info and quick reply

yeah, i'd imagine that would run a lil warm no prob on te response, I'm sure someone reading this has put fans on their gear before too. Where is the amp at? Is it cut off from air, or is the amp like on top of a box in the open air? ------------- Greed is for amateurs.

ok (my setup) i have two subs in the middle and and on the right side of my TRUNK there is a spare tire and jack and all that ugly crap so im gonna build a fiberglass cover tog o over them and mount the amp to the cover for it to be a rack and was wanting to put them underneath the amp to cool the heat sink.. so if i went to the cpu place one of there little fans should work?

Yeah, i'd grab a couple of them and attach them right on. The larger fans are probably best for an exterior application like that. j ust make sure your fans have the ability to get air , cause blowing the same hot air in place is a waste of your time. I had a buddy stick some fans on his amp, then place that down on the carpet of his car (so the fans were kinda holsing up the amp. as you can guess, dumb idea. But then again, he was also the guy who held the fuse to his block in his right hand, while holding test leads onto his power block with his left and went " why ain't this thing passin current??" enjoy ------------- Greed is for amateurs.

Yes i have had fans o my stuff b4.I just ran the fans off my amp wires the pos and the grnd.Not sure if this is the right way but it worked for me.Plus mine were pc fans Scoot

alright thanks ill try turning down the gain a bit more and use some fans it should help im running my amp at four ohm...

There's your wiring diagram for the fans (I was going to post the same thing...complements of the12volt). A lot of amps run warm to hot...that's just the nature of the product. Use a push-pull configuration when you mount those fans. One is pushing air toward the amp, the other is pulling hot air off the top.
