i just bought a Kenwood KFC-XW1300DVC and i noticed that it has dual 3 ohm voice coils? i was wondering what would the impedance be for the sub run in a series and in a parelle?

series would be 6 ohms,  parallel would be  1.5 ohms

but I'm confused as to why kenwood just has to be different and go with a 13" sub with 3 ohm voice coils?  Is there a performance reason for this? Does it still fit in a standard 12" opening?
