My neighbor got two 2003 headunits out of impala's for free and then bought 2 wiring harneses for them costing over 80 dollars. The goal is to hook it up to a battery and then hook it up to some car speakers he has in a box. The problem is after hooking up the power and ground on the headunit i cannot turn it on! You can press the button for the time and it will display it along with being able to change the time and it will take in and spit out a cd. BUT I CANNOT TURN IT ON! Help would be great (maybe i am just not hooking it up right.

Sounds like the ignition on hasn't been connected. Don't know if they are data bussed or not, or if that would make a difference.

These radios are turned on by data coming from the bcm in the vehicle they are specifically programmed to. Long story short, that's why they were free, you can't even throw it in another Impala w/o taking to dealer and programming. Sorry....
