Ok, installed a good many headunits in my past... so I decided to tackle my 2007 avalanche with a Pioneer Avic Z1.  I have the new Metra Lan-02 adaptor to retain onstar and chimes.

Well, I am on day 2... still not working.  Last night, It started raining and I couldnt troubleshoot any further.   :(    If I put the key in the ignition, turn it one notch audio is on and chimes are chiming away because of my door being open.  Great... as planned.  I hit onstar button, works perfect.  XM, Ipod, etc.

Here's the kicker.... as SOON as I turn my key another notch (on the very edge of starting) or start the truck, OR close the door... audio goes away!  Headunit never hitches, xm still rolling, or ipod, or cd... but audio goes away.  I turn the key BACK a notch... whamo!  audio!.  I know you would think that this would be a simple wiring issue... me too.  So, I knew after work today I would come home and finish her right up.  NOPE, I have cut, recrimped doublechecked... everything!  Now, I am not saying it is not a wiring issue, it definitely probably is.  I just dont know enough about the acc and engine start process to know what wires would be the first to look at. ACC?  12v?  Ground?

I am mentally drained with this... can someone give some advice?

Start by metering the reg IGN line on the headunit when the vehicle is running.

I think you have a bad LAN-02 piece, I did two of these this week and had no problems,,,,they were in Suburbans but should be the same for the avalanche,,,,

Even if you leave the key in the ACC position but close the door the audio dies?
