I am a former high-end installer, & have a 2004 Roush Mustang Convertible. The car has an extreme Pioneer & Alpine, CD–DVD–GPS Navigation System that I did. Unfortunately I have to put my original Mach CD6 headpiece back in the vehicle. That’s because my Pioneer headpiece, the DVD Amp under the passenger seat, the 2 headrest-mounted DVD monitors, my rear view camera, & assorted other toys "mysteriously" disappeared from my locked & alarmed Roush, while it was being worked on at Future Ford in Roseville, Ca.

The Brain Trust at Future Ford has guaranteed to take care of the theft, but their insurance company’s check is still a ways away. My recent marriage has made my ca$h situation a little tighter as well, so I don’t have the $1,900.00 for my new headpiece, or the $1,000.00 for the other "toys" I need to replace. What I want to do is tap into the CD6’s low-level outputs that went to the 2 original amps behind the rear seat, & feed my 2 Alpine Amps in the trunk now.

I’ve found the low level wires I need & tested them all at 4.06V @ 200ma. That matches up OK with my Alpine 450 2/3/4ch. amp, as well as the Alpine 550 1/2ch. amp. One of the problems I’m having though, is I can’t find a ground…floating or common, in the small input plugs <>(2 of them) from the CD6 that went to the 2 original amps. I’m actually pulling 6.12V @ 400ma on 2 of the alleged ground inputs. Not having a schematic makes it a large headache also, but here are the main questions I have:

#1- I believe the 2 original amps were subwoofer amps. If they were, I think the low level inputs to the original amps would be cut off around 120-150hz, correct?

#2- Are there any other low level leads I can tap into, anywhere on the CD6, so I can use them to feed the Alpines?

#3- If the answer to question #1 is "Yes", & #2 is "No, then my last question is can someone tell me where I might find, or even what type I might need, of hi-level to lo-level <>(spkr. wire to RCA) adapters I might get to help me with this task.

I know it sucks to use them, but my current & future sanity is dependant on me getting some kind of tunes playing in the Roush real soon…before I climb a clock tower naked, with a fully loaded water pistol & a bottle of A&W Root Beer. I’m thinking that could get ugly friends.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
