Hello again guys.
Forbidden helped me yesterday with some questions I had and I adjusted the amp to his recommendations. I set my Eclipse crossover network to -3 db and set the Hi-Pass Freq to 100hz. It sounds better than it did but now I'm not getting much bass from the woofer :(
Would messing with the bass boost hurt the 1.5' mid driver and 1' tweeter or will the crossover network that came with the component set send the bass boost only to the woofer and block any bass to the mid driver and tweeter? Sorry if these are noobish q's I'm just getting into car audio and I want to get the best possible sound out of my new eclipse 3-way component set.
Thanks
Mike
The crossover will make certain that none of the "boosed" frequencies, to a certain extent, make it to your mids or tweeters. You're fine.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
The idea of setting that crossover is to keep the damaging bottom end from getting into that speaker. If your sub is pounding away to it's hearts content and you have the crossover and boost set incorrect on the front amp, you are going to end up blowing the mid. You do this because the smaller mid is being fed a distorted signal that you cannot hear as the sub is masking the distortion being produced by the smaller speaker. While the mid may indeed play to a lower frequency, you need to find the point that it plays clean and not distorted. 100hz is a starting point only. Disconnect the sub and play the system with the same song over and over while adjusting the high pass filter on the XA2000 up and down and see how your overall volume level changes due to distortion. Raise the crossover point, you will find that it will play louder but lack bass. Lower the crossover point you will have more bass but will find that you will have a lower volume level before the mids start to distort.
