hi there everyone

i'm new in this fourm so i'll be requiring your help and support ..

i purchased the alpine mrd-1001 amp ... i'm willing to purchase the jl audio 12W7-3ohm ... around 500rms at 4oms and 1000rms at 2oms

but i'm affraid that would affect my amp or it may not push the sub enough ..

will it be a good choice or not ...

many thanks

The 500/1 is a perfect match for that sub, more than enough power for it

I totally understand that , but i already bought the alpine mrd-1001 , so will my amp face a hard time in pushing the jl audio 12w7 @ 3ohm .. or vice versa

Shouldn't...depends on the enclosure also...the mrd-1001 is a really nice amp...I like it

No, you shouldnt run into any problems running that sub and amp together.  Make sure the gain is set well and you have it wired up to a safe impedance for your amp.  If you are unfamiliar with amp installations then you should do some searches on here, there have been many different tutorials written on this forum.  Good luck and let us know how it sounds.

Well setting up this amp should be hard...no dials to guess the setting...its all digital...thats what I like about it...Only bitch part it you have to unscrew 4 allen bolts to get to the controls

thanks pro's

this's what i thought cause the jl audio 12w7- 3ohm is very simple it's a one coil sub and my amp alpine mrd-1001 has a nice feature it can adjust it self with 4.0 volt output of headunit which is really cool no clipping no headache ..

thanks

i think you missed one of the cool features of this alpine mrd-m1001 , while your tweeking the the amp it adjusts it self by blinking the display which indicates it matched the head unit voltage output , after that you can start tweeking the freq, bass boost , phase and the rest ...

it's fully digital amp , really cool
