Im thinking this should be a pretty easy answer but I just want to make sure Im not missing anything. Im currently using RCA Yconnectors at my deck for 2 amps both connected to the non-fader connection. I think it is degrading the signal quite a bit and have just recently been noticing it. My deck puts out 8V preout. Would it be a lot better to use the output connector on my amps instead of the Y cables? Im thinking yes but Id like to know if any of you have had issues with noise being introduced. Also, would the preout voltage from the amp be less than the deck or is it a passthrough and maintain everything? deck - eclipse 8445 amps involved - MTX 202 and MTX 1501d

yes but does the signal degrade by using splitters as opposed to using the amps passthrough?

If you are using a good set of Y connectors there shouldn't be a difference. The pass-through on the amps don't have any amplification they are just doing the same as the Y connectors. As far as noise been introduced into the signal that will just be a problem if the outputs on the amp were amplified. ------------- ieSpell rocks.

The MTX amps are a plain and simple pass through. They arent manipulated in the amp in any way shape or form. As was said above, if your y cables are good it should not matter but this is a extremly easy trial and error test. Just connect another set of RCA's between the amps and give it a shot. Cant hurt anything

Very true. Voltage will not change with the split, only current. Just like having two amplifiers connected to the same battery. They both receive the same 12 volts. This is what matters most with your RCAs since you need to match voltage when setting your gains on the amp.

I still dont understand why one amp sounds much better when I disconnect the rcas on the other amp which is connected to the Y cable?

All I could suggest would be try it... I'ts electrically identical, with the exception of one less connection in the first of the daisy-chained amplifiers. Honestly, I can't see why there would be a tremendous difference in it.
When you disconnect one amp, and the other one "sounds better", does the same thing happen if you reverse this?

its not that it sounds better, its the visual difference. When I doconnect the rcas on the little MTX 202, the subs connected to the 1501D have twice the excursion, thus producing twice the output. Its wierd i tell ya.
