Ok, I have done a few searches and no answers. I have a 2005 Chevy Cobalt LS. I am swapping out the factory radio for a Pioneer Premier DEHp-8MP. I have everything hooked up with power and all. My only problem is... there is no sound coming out of the speakers. What is the deal? I did not hook up any of the adapters since I don't care about Onstar or XM. I have been told countless times that this is all you need, but I am not having mach lucky with the playing of music part. I need help badly!
Any ideas?
Do you have a Bose stock system? Probaly so since you have onstar and XM. I have never worked on a Cobalt, so I do not know if this is a option or not. The easiest way to check is to put a 9v battery on one of your speaker wires behind the stereo and if you do not get a pop, then there is a BOSE amp. You will need a periphial for this that you can get at any stereo shop. If it pops when you put the 9V, then you need to start checking connections.

I actually have the 7 speaker Pioneer system. I did a recreation on the plug (pin outs were different). I found the factory wiring schematic and based it off of that. I still get nothing. I will try the 9v trick and go from there. Thanks for the help.

Is it factory or aftermarket. What you are looking for is a factory amp. If you have one, then you need a periphial, or what I would do is run all new speaker wire and bypass the whole factory system. Factory sucks.

Not really sure what you mean by this, but maybe you have the wrong harness. You may want to get some help with this. It is probally a easy fix for someone. Careful with test lights.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I have the factory 7 speaker. It is the best sounding factory "high" level stereo I have ever heard.... however... it isn't my own creation. I am goin to have to just make a wiring harness it looks like. The peripheal systems for my car are over 100 bucks. No need for that when I can just run my own stuff. Seeing how my head unit will put out 60 watts max and about 35 RMS. It sounded a million times better in my old car with this unit.
Thanks for all the help!
Thanks everyone for the help. I actually fixed it today. I just took the plug and pulled all the pins out and rebuilt it. Now it works!
you should just use the data bus adapter better safe than sorry.....
