Thanks for reading, I have a 900watt amp which turns on when I turn on my head unit(I can tell its on because of its light strip), but it only stays on for a second before fading away.

My ground is fine, i have a 4ga. cable from the battery.

Could my battery just be too old?(exide with only 525 cca)

Sounds like you might have a bad remote turn on output.  Try jumping 12 volts from the 12 volt wire on the amp to the remote turn on terminal.  If it comes on and stays on I would say your turn on lead is bad.  If that is the case you will need to hook the turn on lead to your switched ignition wire in your vehicle.  That way it will turn on and off with the vehicle.  Good luck with it.  Brian

Make sure that you remove the other remote turn on lead prior to jumping the two terminals. If there is a short and you jumper the two terminals, you could fry the amp by forcing it to stay on with the jumper wire.
