Alrighty my fellow 12volters. I am getting ready and trying to get some more fedz to start my project, BUT before starting out, I am still trying to figure out what sub set-up I should go for.

I am stuck between two 12" L7's OR two 12" Eclipse Titanium series subs. I figured since they both handle the same amount of power that I will probably run a Hifonics Brutus BXi2006D to power them. I am still scratching my head though as the Eclipse is really nice, but I will end up spending more on those than the L7's, but I currently have an Eclipse HU and sub in my car. I need to know before I start my FG since one is square and the other is circular lol!

Which do you guys prefer and as a side which would you go with and the pros and cons from those of you that have experienced both subs before.

Thanks gentlemen!

Easy choice. If you enjoy listening to your music, Eclipse is the way to go.

Musicality, there is no contest. The Eclipse, hands down. Less expensive, too? Sold! I'm pretty sure the enclosure requirements are considerably smaller as well.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Also didn't we have a discussion about the titanium series also...like their power handling is more of around 3000 watts???

Being a current Kicker L7 user, I would say buy the Eclipse. :)

hmm ok, well talking to some guy at a shop today, he was trying to convince me into 2 JL W7's, he was saying that they are better than the Titaniums. When I said well I'm not to sure, but from most everybody that I talk to (on here of course but I didn't say that) say to go with the Titaniums. He said well they don't know what the f*** they are talking about, and I walked out when he said that. So seeing as how most everyone on here is prolly more experienced than that d*** head, which is better in the sense of SQ between those two??

Lemme guess... a Kicker dealer?

Anybody that knows anything about sound quality, given the choice between those two drivers, will go with the Ti. While I admit the L7 is an equally CAPABLE driver in regards to power handling, it certainly will spank the Ti in regards to sheer output, but for everyday listening, PLEASE give me the Ti, anyday...

if u are going for everyday use and want it to sound  better go with the Ti, I am a huge fan of kicker but the L7 is not their best sub at all.... its loud and thats about it. I would also take the Ti or the W7

So what do you guys think about what I said about the W7's and the Titaniums then?

What are you asking? I think the general consensus is to go with the Eclipse Ti's.

W7 series -- very good subs, just not even close to the best bang for the buck.

I powered my 12" Ti with a JBL 1200.1 in a 1.25cuft box (less driver displacement)
Very very pleased with the results!

i currently have both subs.  I pushed both of them with my kicker zx1500 watt amp and the eclipse is much louder and much cleaner.  Im not impressed by a single L7, multiple L7s in a nice box will sound pretty good though

Frankly, I don't see how anybody can safely say:

Subwoofer X is better than Subwoofer Y

without knowing more about the enclosure volume space available.

Having said that, I'd go with the Eclipse. posted_image
