I am planning on removing my air conditioner compressor, and making some custom brackets for a second alternator, and then wiring it to a battery in the trunk, so that my system runs independently of the engines electrical system. My system is drawing massive amounts of power from my engine, so much it almost dies, and my subs still need more power, so i am planning on getting bigger amps soon. Would there be any downsides to doing this? And any other concerns?

Yeah I'm with nouse on this one, I really dont see a down side...I'd take power over A/C anyday...

Blowing up in a car accident doesnt worry me, as long as I'm putting out some major dB's when I die...

I'd take the A/C and find another way to mount the second alternator (Can't stand the heat). Just make sure you are using sturdy and quality mounts for the new alternator.
