Ok i want to hook up a extra CD player and speakers i have laying around to a battery and have it completely independent from the car. I am acutally going to use this on a river. My question is as far as powering this. Do i need a 12v car battery or what? how many amps? how long will it last before i need to recharge the battery...
thanks guys

No a river. In arizona we have a 4hr lazy river on the salt river. People will create rafts and stereo systems for the ride. I have all the gear laying around so why not. Just need to figure out how to power it for a few hours. And be able to recharge it for next time.

No a battery does not put out a certain amount of amperage the CD player will just draw the amperage it needs. Think of the battery as a "pool" of amperage that you can use. as for the other question how long it will last depends on a few things like power output of the CD player volume levels etc. a good deep cycle battery should last for the 3-4 hours that you need it I would think.

The inline fuse is to protect the wire...NOT THE CD PLAYER!!
