Just got my new sub in today and its a Dual 3ohm VC sub...I have a Kenwood KAC 9102d to put the power to it.  Im going to wire it up in parallel for a 1.5ohm load, but my amp is only 2ohm stable.  Now, after box rise and what not would I be hitting somewhere around 2ohms?  and if not, will that amp take a 1.5ohm load? or should I just invest in the Hifonics amp ive been looking at?...

No...you will still be looking at 1.5 ohm. Your amp will probably start to go into thermal shutdown even if it doesn't go into protect mode.

My advice, don't use the Hifonics, go with a JL amp that can handle 1.5 to 4 with no problems.

I would go ahead and wire the sub to show the 1.5 ohm load and then take a reading with a multimeter. It might actually be closer to 2 ohms than you think. Then again it may also be closer to 1 ohm.

I had a pair of 12's today wired for 4 ohms and they were actually showing 3.6 ohms on the multimeter.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong here.

I guess im just going to have to invest in a 1ohm stable amp...My budget is real low right now, so im looking for something under $300...Which one would be best the Hifonics BXi 1206D or the Kenwood Excelon KAC-X812D ???...Im looking for somewhere between 700-1200w.....

Buddy of mine just offered me a Kenwood KAC-9152d for $100...Its 1-ohm stable, but he says it gets a bit hot at 1ohm...You think it being at 1.5 would put a little less stress on it?

If the amp gets hot but doesn't shut down than you'll be fine...amps aren't 100% efficient
