my friend was recently given two Lexon 15" subwoofers possibly model number 893030 -- dont know if its the model number or some kind of serial number, it was only number on the back that wasnt the power handling which is "400 watts" and they're 4 ohm subs.

just by looking at them we know they are not any good at all -- they are a faded pink and made very cheaply -- but he is very cheap himself and wants to use them anyway.

i myself have no found anything on them but am wondering if anyone has any idea or if they are just so bad that we can just make up a box and it will sound the same -- bad.

any input on this is appreciated and needed.

Wow...I can't find much on Lexon Audio equipment. Looks like they make general electroics gadgets in Europe or something. I don't know...but for me, it wouldn't be worth the time and effort (even if the wood and supplies were free) to make boxes to try to make it sound good.

thats what i figured. i tried talking him into some cheap rockford p1's instead since he doesnt want to spend much money but hes pretty bent on trying these out and asked me to look for some box specs or something for him so he can get going.

Well...can't look into box specs when you can't even find a manufacturer's website. Tell him to buy a prebuilt 15 box and then have a pool on how long they go before they blow.

Lexon?  You need a good Rockwood amp to power that thing.

If he must use those subs:

Build an average sized sealed box for a 15". (No less than 1.5ft^3 per subwoofer).

Set the subwoofer amp gain conservatively and tell him not to be foolish with the volume control.

You'd be surprised how long even crap subs can last if they aren't abused.

I'd say put it in box like kfr said and put it in your car...then wire it up to the wall outlet and see what kinda dbs you have get outta it lol...or just do what kfr said and use em...I'd get new stuff

i figure i'll just make the box to the rockford p1 15" specs so that when they die he can be cheap and buy a cheap replacement.
